Dicey and the Great Pumpkin

So, it's "officially" fall and with that brings gratuitous Halloween advertisements, cooler weather, and the Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks. I've actually never had a pumpkin spice latte, but evidently they're such a big deal that there were a few news stories about it.

I love pumpkin everything--pie, cake, bread, bagels, you name it I'll eat it--and once a friend made me a pumpkin pie for my birthday. So it's possible to say that Fall is my favorite season for this reason alone, though I do tend to like winter more, mostly because it's so dang hot.

But anyway, this is going to be a blog post about pumpkin because I love it and this is my blog so I do what I want.

See, Linus gets me.

But anyway, my favorite pumpkin pie recipe of all time has got to be Paula Deen's. She might be a racist who is probably contributing to the gradual clogging of the American artery, but it's still some damn good pie. I've actually made this, and it takes a while and some complicated kitchen-fu, but it's still pretty great.

To me, the pumpkin is what the buffalo was to the Plains Indians: let no part go to waste. So after you're done carving your pumpkin pick out the seeds, put them on a flat cookie sheet. Drizzle with olive oil and add salt and pepper and wa-la, good stuff!

I've never made pumpkin bread before in my life (a tragedy I know) but I can look at some pictures of some and put them on here.

Mhmm. I hope this image isn't copyrighted.

And now I'm hungry so I'm going to go get food I guess. I have class in less than two hours, so, wish me luck.
